Letting your property to
Whatley Lane has built a strong reputation for working closely with private landlords and the USAF Military Housing Office (MHO). We have many USAF applicants wishing to live off base, and letting your property to USAF personnel has plenty of advantages.
Find Professional Tenants
Given the nature of USAF personnel employment, you can be assured of the best possible tenant for your property. Not only that but their professional conduct is safeguarded by the MHO.
Maintenance & Repair Recourse
In the rare instance of a property management issue occurring during a tenancy, landlords have the ultimate recourse in the form of the base housing officers and commanding officer disciplining tenants.
Enjoy Long term Tenancies
Typically tours of service have a minimum duration of 2 to 5 years, and can be longer in some instances, giving you lower void periods.
Safeguard Rental Income
Active USAF personnel have their monthly rental cost backed and covered by a housing allowance scheme, provided by the United States Government (USG), giving you peace of mind.
Unlock Higher Rents
Comparative to other rental markets, USAF housing consistently records higher than average yields for landlords.
Fully Managed Property Service
We also offer USAF landlords a full property management service, from tenant sourcing to property maintenance and rent collection.
We find our USAF tenants prefer this option.

How do I view a property I have seen on your website?
Simply telephone the office and we will qualify your requirements and arrange for you to view the property.
How do I know if I can afford the monthly rental price?
Once you arrive in the UK, if you choose to live in privately-owned housing, you will need to visit the Military Housing Office (MHO) on base, to find out what your Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) is. Your monthly allowance is based on your rank, dependants, and location. For more information visit: https://www.travel.dod.mil/Allowances/Overseas-Housing-Allowance/OHA-Rate-Lookup/
I want to go ahead with a rental property I have viewed. What happens next?
Once the landlord has agreed to let the property to you, we will contact the MHO to inform them of your intention, and confirm you are eligible to proceed. We will then arrange for them to carry out Life Safety Checks and an inspection of the property.
Has the property already been inspected by the base?
We organise an inspection on your behalf, with the MHO. We also undertake our own pre-inspections, to help ensure the property passes first time.
What are your charges?
